About the author
This is my first and partly autobiographical novel. I am an avid follower of 1980s music, culture and history both in the UK and in Europe and still follow football. I was born and grew up on the east coast in Ipswich and have lived in the Midlands, in Birmingham, the Black Country and Leicestershire. I have travelled extensively in Europe and visited China, Japan, the USA and Russia.
A lot of my writing and stories are bittersweet. I have started work on a new and different novel (with some football mentions but mimimal!), set in the cold winter of 1986 and am currently reworking some short stories set in the 1970s which I wrote several years ago. I'm hoping to find a publisher for a collection of 6 short 'spin-off' stories (working title 'The Youth of That Day' a take on he Musical Youth track). These are standalone tales bout the main characters in '82-83'. One of these, 'From Billy Jean to Beat It' is now available to download and read for free from this website on the Writing page.
I have also started work on a new novel set in 1985 called "Walls of Voodoo" about youth and the dangers of relationships and politics.
